I hadn't even seen the video and this pisses me off. It's the "crabs in a bucket" mentality. Black people don't want to see other black people do better. WHY IS THAT??? We should be PROUD of ourselves as a people! We should want to build each other up instead of tearing each other down.

It is so very sad but again..it begins at home. This is what happens when babies have babies. When parent's don't teach their kids to do better than they did. It's like everyone is content to stay in the 'hood' together....leaving means that you are a sellout. The entire family system has broken down and generation after generation is being raised with this brokeness. They don't know any more than what they see. It's like people forgot how to dream and have goals..they are just content to wallow where they are...it's sad...very, very sad.

Teaching your baby girl to do the stanky leg my be cute to you...but teach her to read, spell and do math ALSO!!!!

Like Ms Devine said IT STARTS AT HOME!!!

Moving to the burbs....hmmm...I live in the burbs and there is a bridge that separates this county from st louis county. St Louis county wanted bus service to start coming out here...the voters said HELL NO... they wanted the metro train to start coming out here ...the voters said HELL NO!!!

Black folks got problems!!!!!

I saw it on the news and I almost threw up. My brother just sat there and looked disgusted. My mom went on a tirade of curses. It is just sad to see that another young man lost his life for no reason. I just wish a lot more black people made good money so that they can move to safer neighborhoods and send their kids to school where this much violence wont occur as much.

Actually moving to the suburbs does help sometimes. A lot of kids who came from the hood and moved to where I live now have actually changed. See in the suburbs the police actually do come on time. So if they try anything stupid they now the police are right around the corner. People in the suburbs know how to make it uncomfortable for certain people who want to come and start havoc. I live in a black suburb so most of the young men, even the one's who go to public school do not behave like this. Before moving to where I am now, I used to live in ruff areas of Bk, but my parents never allowed my brother and I to mingle with the kids. Now that we live where we live now, I notice the difference in a lot of the young men. Hood black men vs suburbian black men....BIG DIFFERENCE. People who live in unlikeable conditions have to want to make it....its a choice. You have to say to yourself I want to succeed and I want to live a better life than my parents did. Its up to each individual. I have seen it done before...its just up to the individual.

And what makes me mad about it is that this guy was an HONOR STUDENT! Meaning he was utilizing his potential and trying to make something of himself. He could have done great things....we will never know.

Did anyone see NAS on 106 & Park speaking about the letter he wrote to the 3 teenagers accused of the murder?

^^^^ Whether it was an honor student or not...a person is dead. He could have not been an honor student and was still killed for no reason. Thats why I always say sometimes parents have to really consider where they send their kids to school. I know money plays a factor but sometimes as parents you really have to dig down deep and think about this. Chicago has some ruff parts but there are also nice parts. Sometimes it takes big financial sacrifice to make sure that your kids stay safe ....not saying that things like this dont happen at safer schools but it does not happen like this all the time or at this magnitude.

No i did not see Nas on 106. I will youtube it right now. I bet Nas had a lot of things to say.

I understand that someone is dead. For me, it makes it even more sad because this wasn't some gangbanging thug who skips school and hangs on the porch drinking a 40. This was a guy who was obviously using his potential and could have been something great...we will never know.

See what I don't understand is why are these same black folks screamin Change? Change starts with an individual. You have to change yourself in order to change your life.

I agree 100%. I grew up in Cleveland...East Cleveland. Rougher than rough. When I bought my house location was a huge factor. Cleveland has new housing developments popping up in the middle of the hood and for buying one you get like a ten year tax break. I didn't care because I didn't want my kids going to Cleveland Public Schools...I moved way out in the burbs. To a new development in the middle of nowhere but in an award winning school district. It really does matter.
