What do you think of this? Do you think that the show's producers are not doing anything wrong? Do you truly believe that the show isn't targeting teenagers?

Re: Gossip Girl
I watch it, I think that the show is pretty much targeted towards an older crowd even though the characters portray people much younger. I think that it is a little late to play the role of the 'concerned parent' when they show teens drinking, and not being arrested for it, drug use, sleeping with and black mailing their teachers, gambling, having affairs with married adults, using the net, and their camera phones to humiliate others and the list goes on..
These parents are concerned because they use their tvs to raise their kids, instead of doing it themselves and are concerned that their shitty parenting and laziness will result in their kid being influenced by what is not real, and their faulty parenting will come to light should their kid get into trouble imitating a tv show. I think that these parents need to pick their battles regarding this show considering that teens today are doing a LOT worse in real life then what a bunch of 20 somethings are doing on tv.
Besides, I've heard more adults, whom are much older than I am talking about it at the water cooler, than I have heard teens talking about it. Otherwise, if this wasn't the case at all, and these parents WERE raising their kids properly, then they wouldn't have to worry since they will have already taught their kids right from wrong, and that what they see on these shows is fiction. They wouldn't have to worry about their kids getting influenced by it. This is like those parents who were trying to ban Harry Potter because they worried about their kids believing that they could do magic as well. If a teen cannot differentiate between right and wrong, and are so gullible as to believe that what they see on tv is real, then that means that you have failed as a parent, and you should be very afraid.
I love the show, and I think that it is the only thing that the CW has got going for them seeing as how they have completelywhite-washed their network obliterated the [highly-rated] programming targeting Blacks viewers, and alienated the viewers coming in from UPN. I mean, should GG go off the air, then what would be left?? OTH dropped the ball when they let go two of their main characters last season, and if you have to do a fast-foreward in the storyline (like Dawson's Creek did) then that is a pretty strong indication that the show has jumped the shark.. and although the new season isn't outright nauseating, it is no where near the previous seasons. That said, the show is pretty much circling the drain seeing as how they have been on the air since 2003, and have let two key characters go in the series. The show focused on two brothers from two different mothers and have had different lives, who got closer as the series progressed. While yes, they are as close as they can be, there still isn't much going on for the show now that they have gotten rid of one brother, and his primary love interest. Quite frankly, I'd be surprised, if they came back in January after the winter break. Smallville has been on longer, and so, I am sure that it won't be long before that ends as well. And I am pretty sure that Aaron Spelling is rolling over in his grave at this mere thought of the shitty remakes that is 90210 and Melrose Place. I watched the originals, and there is more talent in the head lice of the original actors, and writers from the original series, than there is in the entire cast of these remakes. I used to watch ANTM, but IMO, things went downhill after cycle 7.
GG and OTH are the only reasons I watch the CW anymore. Should the CW start pandering to these lazy f--ktards, and their ratings go down as a result, and GG gets canceled because the viewers aren't feeling the changed, I don't think that there would be much to keep the network afloat. Excluding the shows they've running before, that it seems like lately, they have had more misses since the merge, and the cancellation of nearly all of the programing they got from the UPN, than they have had hits. There were a lot of shows that were either canceled after the first season, or after a few episodes.
Besides, Gossip Girl is rated TV-14, and has warnings due to Sexuality, and the like. It is not suitable for those under 14, and for those 14 and up, it is really a judgment call. If you are comfortable with your 14-17 year old watching this show, then that is is just as well since under the rating, they can watch it but chances are, they won't be interested anyway. I mean, how many teens do you know taking the fall for a fake rescue to help pull in last minute voters for their cousins election? How many teens do you see opening speakeasys? How many teens do you see playing high stakes poker to save their boyfriend from having to work on a ranch to pay off his gambling debts? Chances are, these parents are pissed because they ignored the rating, and have allowed their 10 or 12 year old to watch the show.
Oh yeah, and the threesome, takes place between the three most boring characters on the show, and no, Jenny Humphrey isn't one of them.

Sorry, I guess that when it is something I have a lot to say about, I guess it is like pulling a rip cord.
And thanks for the compliment.

Re: Gossip Girl
i only saw a few episodes of this show and that was it. I lost interest afterwards but this show in a way gears towards "todays" teenagers and a little bit of the older crowd. Todays teens are not the same teens from 1950.

Re: Gossip Girl
Yeah, so I just saw the episode in question, and it was not graphic at all. They made it seem like you would be able to see them getting it on, and it was no different than what you'd see normally.. if anything, it was a lot less graphic than anything else.

Re: Gossip Girl
I guess they advertise the way they do for ratings purposes.
