The fact of the matter is, Kanye does not choose who wins the award. The VMAs isn't even a "TRUE" awards show like the Oscars or Grammys. The VMAs is based on popularity vote. Grant it, Beyonce had a HUGE video with "Single Ladies" but Taylor Swift was more fresh, on everyone's minds, and her fanbase is composed of a bunch of teeny boppers who have nothing to do all day but vote online or text their vote, you know? I don't think she can sing that well but the fact is, SHE WON THE AWARD. She shouldn't have been disrespected in that manner just because Kanye thinks he knows best. He did eventually apologize on his website. But just b/c we should expect his behavior doesn't mean we have to tolerate it.

Yeah, BA, I think the same thing....what IS the point of Kanye's outbursts? Is that supposed to change something? This isn't like a vote for the presidential election where your vote/opinion counts. He's just being a dick. They should have been more prepared knowing that fool is just that: a fool.

I think she has a nice voice and everything, but I just don't get why people think she is so great when there are many other artists out there who are just as talented, if not, more so.

While the message in the song, Singe Ladies is uplifting, (and that glove thing was cool..) I think the message will be lost on a lot of those who play it. They may think about it, say yeah that's a good point, proceed to leave their panties at home as they depart for the club or their man's house. Her songs get a lot of airtime on top 40 stations, and I wonder if the people who like it get tired of it. I liked Next's Too Close back in the day, but I got sick of that too. However, despite its [Single Ladies] airtime, It won't change anything. I liked Womanizer, and If You Seek Amy. I thought that the double entendre in If You Seek Amy was clever.. and I loved how controversial it was. I thought that those were excellent videos, and that they should have won.. and I don't even like Britney Spears. Although, I am tired of seeing her half naked in her videos. But, that is a thought that I would've kept to myself in that situation.

Kanye was not expecting them to go back to the drawing board and give it to Beyonce. I personally think there were many other artists beside Beyonce who could have been in that category minus Taylor Swift. Kanye's choice was Beyonce...but what he was really trying to get at was there are more artists who should have won. Next year, they might not ask Kanye to come but then again they might say Kanye you can come but with stipulations...(meaning if he decides to jump on stage again, security will carry him out). I mean heck when they said Taylor Swift ...I just screamed out WHAT???? Of all people country Taylor Swift..lets fall back for a minute VMA. Lets get our minds right....lol

If its based on popularity, then Beyonce should have won. Who is known all over America...Beyonce or Taylor. Who is known all over the world? Beyonce or Taylor....If you go to big major cities in america alone, half of the people dont even know Taylor. So I am assuming you are talking about teeny boppers that live in particular states because we def. do not bump Taylor 24/7...lol I will agree with you that VMA does not have the same caliber as the Oscars or Grammys.

Taylor and Kanye should have a sit down. Kanye should apologize to her in person because she is still young. They should have a mocha and move on. I hope Kanye will chill out just a little bit after this. If he wants to say something, just wait until after the program is over...lol

Grant it, Beyonce has had PUH-LENTY of time to become an international superstar. Taylor is just starting out and she's blown up. Beyonce didn't start off being known all over the world. That took TIME. Give Taylor TIME. She's doing a helluva job in the US. Her fans are crazy about her just like they are about Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus or The Jonas Brothers. I don't bump Taylor either, but just b/c we don't doesn't mean she's not that popular.

AGREED! A blogger said the same thing: if he wanted Beyonce to win an award, he should have some awards on his website and give her one. GEEZ!

@ earl: do i agree with what kanye said, yes... do i think it was the time or place for him to say it, no... did i think he showed class, no.. was i in my room ROLLIN' when he said what said, HELL YES! in MY oppinion i thought beyonce should have won because her video at its time was huge. people on the news talked about it, youtube was flooded with people doing their own interpretation, it was BIG. taylors video is barely in rotation on mtv. was it right what kanye did, eh probably not being that taylor is only like 16, but he was saying what most people were thinking and we live in a country where we have the right to fre speach

thank you!!!! taylors video is barely on rotation on mtv. Again MTV and some folks behind the scene what all the little country folks to get happy. Taylor swift is not "hot" in the big states.....Like you said, Kanye did not show class but he spoke his mind. So many other people could have won (I am not saying Bee should have won). Taylor is 16 and has plenty of other opportunities. Its all good though because a lot of people now know who Taylor is because of Kanye. So in a way it helped her.
